Fiberglass is a fabric made on a loom by weaving two systems of glass threads located mutually perpendicular. In weaving, the longitudinal threads are called warp, and the transverse threads are called weft.
Products made from fiberglass have long found their application in various areas of production and have replaced materials such as metal, plastic and many others. The main advantages of ready-made fiberglass products are:
– Mechanical strength. Fiberglass has a high resistivity compared to metal.
– High temperature resistance. Fiberglass is not flammable. The operating temperature range is from – 200°C to +550°C, and for silica fabrics up to +1200°C.
– High electrical insulation characteristics. They have the properties of an excellent electrical insulator.
– Resistance to corrosion processes. Fiberglass does not rot.
They have dimensional stability after subsequent processing.
